Vintage Locket

I had picked up this locket a while ago at an antique shop, I liked the patina and enamel paint on the front and especially because it was a locket....a very cool locket at that. As you can see it opens very unusually and allows for several photographs or mementos.

Today was its day....I paired it with some vintage chain, antique glass beads, new brass and Czech glass beads.

When I am creating something I sometimes lay things out to get an idea, I do not sketch, I guess you can say I wing it.
I will share the finished piece with you tomorrow. Are you a planner? Do you plan ahead before you create a piece? Do you like to sketch or are you like me and just go with it.

  2. Judy, I am with you....I rarely sketch! I am a get-it-all-out, and see how it looks. I put a piece here, move it there, and an kinda person. Then, an overall design comes together. I love the idea of an art journal, a sketch book....but it rarely gets used. I think maybe I'll try and put more effort in to sketching...but for now, I'm in the "go with it" club too.
I just know your finished piece will be beautiful!!

  3. You are right - it is a very unusual and beautiful locket. Can't wait to see how you finish it.
I mostly let my muse guide me. But sometimes, just sometimes, I know beforehand what I want something to look like.

  5. That's a beautiful and unsusal locket! It will make a special piece, and I can't wait to see the finished product.

I don't sketch out my designs, I just gather beads, pile them on the table, and got from there. I will sketch an idea if I'm away from home and don't want to forget it.

  6. That locket is unique, I don't think I've ever seen one like that. I'm definately a planner...I sketch the design then decide what to beads to use. The sketching helps me get my idea on paper.
