Estate Sale Finds

How I love a good estate sale! I mean really love...it has been a while since I have been to a good one so this morning as I was fighting the Nashville traffic I was praying it would be worth it, and it was!

I have been very neglectful of my antique booths at Bright's Antique World and I really need to spend a few days re-organizing and cleaning. Here are some of the goodies I found today.

a darling vintage print of a little boy (he reminds me of when my son was little), a vintage glass necklace and a 1907 3rd grade primer book. I just love old children's books!

a vintage quilt top, an old cupid candle holder, an old linen sewing bag, a doll suitcase, a great old brass birdcage, a deco metal tray, old frames and a signed original framed print. Some old linens and  some pottery bowls (to hold my bead stash).

...and the coolest shells ever! All hand painted and dated 1912, the photo does not do them justice, and I got two of them!

The gentleman running the sale said they would put more things out tomorrow, so since I will be back in town I will return to see if I can find anything else. Now I have to clean and price everything, not my favorite thing to do, I would rather just do the shopping!

 Check out this great treasury my typewriter key bracelet was in today. It is called "Secretary" it reminds me of one of my favorite shows Mad Men, as it has mostly vintage. 

Who want's to go Antiquing?

I reorganized one of my booths at the antique shop today and put out all the treasures I purchased yesterday at the Estate sale.
Do you recognize the painting from yesterdays post? I purchased both paintings yesterday at the estate sale as well as the white door. I love old doors, they are so fun for decorating.

Old flags are another one of my favorites....one can never be too patriotic!

This sweet early pine table is also a new addition as well the drug store candy jar (missing lid) but still so wonderful! People love collecting these.

I had found this great folky yellow cupboard a while ago in Nashville. It must of been next to the telephone as phone numbers are written inside one of the doors. Check out the Victorian bamboo chair next to it.

I am a lucky girl to be able to enjoy two passions of mine....Antiques and jewelry design. I especially love it when I can combine the two and create jewelry from something old.

Estate Sale

Only the promise of a really good antique estate sale can get me out of bed early in the morning. This morning I headed into the city for just that and I was not disappointed. I picked up this great sailboat painting, signed oil on board and in a wonderful frame. It was a steal and I couldn't pay for it fast enough...$20 Omg, I would have paid more for sure! I also love old photos and got some of those too, I use the ones of the ladies in my display for my jewelry. They are eye catchers for sure, people always ask if they are my relatives.


The truck is still full of my finds and tomorrow I will bring everything up to my antique booth at Bright's Antique World. I also purchased an early 1840's rocker, it is pine and has a wonderful "shaker" look, an old door, pine table, a painted tin duck decoy and some folkart birds. I will try to remember to take some pictures tomorrow of my booth after I redecorate it. I am getting it ready for all the buyers that the Heart of the Country antique show brings in. Heart of the Country... It's the "grand-daddy" of American antiques shows, where the finest antiques and decorative arts from every region migrate to Nashville -- the crossroads of America --

Yin and Yang

I had to go into the city this morning for a Doctor's appointment, and while I have to do something I am not fond of doing I always try to add something fun to do the same day....it balances me out. To my luck there was an antique estate sale starting today just 6 miles out of the city...cool for me, a little treasure hunting after my appointment. The sale did look promising online but when I got there it was not as great as I had hoped . I did walk away with a few items, as you can see they need some cleaning up and polishing, but good finds.

The Doctor's appointment on the other hand.... as I expected, I need to have surgery and have my thyroid removed. A recent biopsy revealed some large tumors but so far not a malignancy. I was hoping to have surgery the sooner the better but I must wait about 4 weeks. A nasty scar and medication for the rest of my life, but I quess it could be worse so I will not complain.
