7000 Bracelets for Hope

Welcome to the 7000 bracelets for hope blog  hop. To join the hop  you needed to make ONE bracelet in an adult size in a denim/blue jeans-inspired theme. Basically, any blue bead will do! The bracelets will be sent to  The Global Genes Project, an advocacy group who launched "7000 Bracelets for Hope", a children's rare disease campaign. The bracelets are given to one of 7000 families having children with rare diseases to show them love and support. I hope my bracelet with remind the wearer that there is hope and people who care, people that are trying to make a difference.

garden of hope...

 The tree of life stands in the garden of hope...

I am feeling just a bit melancholy as I pack my bags to head back to Connecticut. My dear mother in law will be starting radiation and chemo next week and I would like to be with her as she goes through this ordeal. The hope for the treatment is that it will slow the growth of  the cancer in her pancreas. Her pain has been intensifying and this is her only hope.


Ginger, my MIL had sent me a lovely card before I had surgery on my leg last month and the words of that card are with me all the time, "The tree of life stands in the garden of hope..." I will pack the card in my bag as a reminder of what we need at this time.


The above picture is a glimpse of a piece I made last night, a comfort I suppose and a distraction. I am not an overly religious person but find comfort in certain items.


Sometimes life just plain sucks, we never know what will be thrown at us, but it is how we deal with it that counts. Gratitude helps us deal with all those curb balls, I know it has helped me. So now this post has turned  sad, it was never my intention, I just never know what is going to come out when I start typing!

Bird in Flight

A symbolic necklace full of Hope, growth and the rhythm of life.

I created a one of a kind resin pendant for this piece I call "Bird in Flight".

The pendant was made using resin, vintage papers, an old watch face and a bird charm. A thin piece of mica sits under the resin and gives the pendant an iridescent glow.

Handmade sheet music beads, rulitated quartz and mother of pearl beads are wire wrapped in steel and accent the whimsical pendant. You can find this piece on my website.

Spring Moss

Bone beads and handmade copper bead caps compliment the porcelain floral pendant and porcelain beads created by LeAnn of Summers Studio Pottery. Oxidized copper and vintage metal links unite all of these great components.

Spread Your Wings and Soar

I had fun putting this together. It looks heavy but it is not and is so comfortable to wear. This rustic eclectic piece can be found in my Artfire shop.

It has been fun seeing all the posts about the Bead Soup Party. I love seeing what people have sent each other. I think I will get started on mine today. The weather has been rainy and dreary and the colorful butterfly focal that Emanda my soup partner sent me with be perfect to work with today.

On another note I wanted to tell you I sold my "Hope" for Haiti necklace this morning, I am so excited! Many thanks to the buyer and I hope the necklace will inspire you as well. Graduation Day

It only seems like yesterday that my son Nick got on the school bus for his first day of kindergarten; I then followed the school bus to school, went up to the front door and watched him enter the school. Phew, he was safe! Being my one and only I have worried excessively at times, at least that is what he would say.
And now here we are on graduation day, 13 years later....wow, time flies! We were so happy to have some family fly in to be here with us for this wonderful occasion. These are the times when you miss having your family so far away.
Our weather alarm went off two hours prior to the ceremony announcing that severe thunderstorms were on its way. The ceremony was planned to be outside at the town football field, and there were no plans to move it inside. It rained off and on during the ceremony with thunder and the occasional lightening, all the while there was a patch of sun shining and a double rainbow behind us. I would like to think of that as some kind of good omen or a sign of great things. Here's to my boy and all great things and great love!
