Wobbly & Dizzy

I am still laying low...thought I was starting to feel better but went backwards today. I think it is my new medication making me feel very wobbly and dizzy. Will need to call the endocrinologist tomorrow to see if this is normal being new on the thyroid replacement medication. I am finding it hard to do anything but lay on the couch. I keep thinking about getting into my studio to work but with no energy and a dizzy head that is too hard to do. So for now I will just keep to the couch with the purring and drooling cats, they are very happy and content with me where I am.

Coach Potato

Yes, you can call me a coach potato and I will not be offended. That is where I have been parked for the last few days, that too is wearing me out, I bore easily and there is nothing good to watch on TV. Since I am writing this you can tell I made it through my surgery safe and sound. My big old thyroid was removed and now I have a big ole scar....much bigger than I expected. I really need to get some scarves because I fear I will scare people when I go out. It feels very weird I must say having this 5 inch incision across my neck.Even more interesting is that the incision is sutured underneath and then glued. Yes, I said glued! Apparently this will make a nicer line versus having sutures on top.

My first overnight experience in the hospital was much better than I anticipated. I was at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville where I received the very best of care. I truly felt like I was their only patient, the nursing staff was just excellent. You read all about the nursing shortages and lack of patient care in hospitals across the country, it was not evident here at Centennial.

I am glad this is all behind me and it is over. Thanks for all off your nice comments and support.

Calling Dr.Kildare

As some of you know I need to have surgery to have my thyroid removed and tomorrow is the day....not something I am looking forward to but will be glad when its done. I am not an early morning person and need to be at the hospital in Nashville at 5:30am....uuuuggghhh. This surgery will require an overnight stay, the first for me since I have not been a inpatient before, thankfully I have gotten this far in my life without many hospital visits.

It's Smoky in here

Tunica

We had a great weekend with friends, but it is always nice to come home. Tunica Mississippi is about a 4 hour drive from our home and since we were driving past Memphis we decided to stop and have lunch on Beale Street in Memphis. I will say this, I am glad I went but ....I have no desire to go back. It is no Nashville...Beale Street is to me kind of trashy and very dirty. I can cross Memphis off my list. Onward to Tunica...The casinos are literly the only attractions in this area, unless you are a cotton farmer. Hundreds and hundreds of acres of cotton!
A three day weekend is plenty enough for me at a casino resort. I feel as though I have smoked a carton of cigarettes and I don't even smoke! That is the only thing that gets to me, is all the second hand smoke, thankfully we were able to eat in non-smoking and play poker in a smoke free room.
It was like a roller coaster weekend...the first day I was down $$$ and did not do very well playing poker, the players were extremely aggressive. The second day I did much better and started playing more craps. Now craps is exciting and takes lots of energy so it wore me out! I like to yell and clap a lot, I just can't help showing my excitement when I win! The Gold Strike Casino is very generous in comps...we did not pay for one meal while we were there, and we are certainly no high rollers. The hotel was nice and clean and the rooms just had been remodeled, so it was very comfortable.

Since we have only lived in Tennessee for three years we love any opportunity to visit nearby states and attractions. My goal since moving here was to be sure we went to all of the eight states that Tennessee borders. Since Arkansas was on my list we took a little afternoon break and drove into Arkansas. Well, I can tell you that too is not an exciting place either. We just got gas and left but there was nothing pulling me forward if you know what I mean. The following states border Tennessee--Arkansas, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, N. Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky & Missouri. We have only two left to visit..North Carolina and Missouri.
