Laugh Darling

Here is a whimsical piece I call "Laugh Darling". An assemblage or collage pendant. My most favorite part is the old Victorian pin that says "Darling", how cute is that? 

Created with Verdi patina-ed and etched copper , a resin charm created from a vintage dictionary definition and stamped,hammered copper.

Falling Leaves

Well, not quite yet here in Tennessee but I am in the mood for Autumn.I would however prefer to keep wearing shorts and flip flops, I think someone shrunk all of my pants this summer....not so good!

Butterflies are everywhere here, you can not drive without hitting them, I have never seen so many in my life! So it seems I can not stop making butterfly pendants, I too am adding to the population! Still etching like a fool, some come out good and others not so, it is what it is. I really like doing it, I think I like the challenge. I just listed lots more etched pieces in my Etsy shop. Here are a few pieces I am fond of.

Busy Hands

I have been staying super busy making jewelry and doing lots of etching. The DH has been away in lovely Nevada and is on his way home as I speak, so when he is away I stay busier than usual so the time goes quicker. My fingers are a mess from oxidizing and scrubbing with steel wool, no model hands here. My fall and winter shows are lining up nicely. I have decided to offer some of my etched pieces in my Flapyourwings  Etsy shop. I have far too many pieces and will never use them all. Several people have asked if I would sell them so I decided to, so far it has been a great success.

What do you think?

I have two people who can answer that question in my house, my DH and son and what they say is pretty much "I wouldn't wear it and "it's ok"...they are of no help at all. So I will ask you all....
."What do you think?", "Would you wear this?" "Is the pendant too small?" It is a long piece and these are so darn hard to photograph, so sorry about the poor pictures.

The off white links are vintage, polymer clay beads by Aslan Crafts, Lampwork bead by Being Beads. I etched the brass beads caps and sunflower pendant.

Crooked Moon

If only you could see this piece in person....feel the texture and absorb the rich colors. This amazing pendant was created by Lisa Calabro of Crooked Moon of Warwick Rhode Island.  Lisa creates mosaic art for your body and home. I was so lucky to receive this pendant from my sister Susan for my birthday, Susan knows my love for handmade and especially mosaics as I have dabbled in that as well. A little piece of heaven...green that is.

Green Heaven

Sometimes, well especially lately in this terrible heat....I like to wear a long lightweight necklace. My new favorite chain is the snake chain at 24" in length. So here I have something you just might see me wearing. You can find this green agate drop necklace in my Etsy shop.

Bird in Flight

A symbolic necklace full of Hope, growth and the rhythm of life.

I created a one of a kind resin pendant for this piece I call "Bird in Flight".

The pendant was made using resin, vintage papers, an old watch face and a bird charm. A thin piece of mica sits under the resin and gives the pendant an iridescent glow.

Handmade sheet music beads, rulitated quartz and mother of pearl beads are wire wrapped in steel and accent the whimsical pendant. You can find this piece on my website.

Bone beads and handmade copper bead caps compliment the porcelain floral pendant and porcelain beads created by LeAnn of Summers Studio Pottery. Oxidized copper and vintage metal links unite all of these great components.

Oh Hunny...

Here is another one of my resin pieces I call "hunny". It has a little edgy steam-punk thing going on but you know... put the word "hunny" on something and it softens it right up.

I like adding texture to metal, it absorbs all of your pent up frustrations really well. We have aggregate side walks and driveway (all little pebbles in cement) So I use a texture hammer all over the metal and flip the metal as I go. I then take it inside and with a mallet flatten it out. I then oxidize the metal with liver of sulfur and it really gives it an aged look getting all the nooks and crannys.

I have been asked if I made the bezel, well kinda sorta.....does telling someone what to do count? My hubby cut copper tubing for me and viola you've got yourself a bezel. I have not mastered the soldering part yet so I have improvised with resin and epoxy. An old watch gear and bee charm fill the bezel along with the resin. I have also fallen in love with eyelets...it does not take much to thrill me, I know. Renate of "Put a little magic in your life" was so kind to share with me where she got the eyelets, they are so cool and add another great element to designing.


Now, I am off to play with all of my goodies that came in the mail today. Oh, yes you should be jealous because they are wonderful!!

Dreams

The last two days I have been working with resin, I love the outcome but always get nervous pouring the sticky stuff. Had some difficulty yesterday with some over spill but it all cleaned up well today. Here is one of the pieces.."Dreams". I could not decide if I wanted a long or short necklace, so I went somewhere in between at 23". I am not sure if this will stay like this, as I am still debating. So, tell me please what do you think...long or short? Being long I was worried it would look like a badge hanging, or maybe I am just over thinking it...it has been one of those days.

I hope you've got your "Green" on today... Here is a little Irish toast for you...

London

Here is one of my fun resin projects....it is so nice to finally use all the little snippets of vintage and antique papers I have been hoarding. I knew someday they would get some good use! I was lucky enough to travel to London with a girlfriend about 6 years ago. It was a wonderful trip and I hope to return someday with the DH. I hope this necklace will bring back wonderful memories for someone too. You can find this piece in my Etsy shop.

New Beginnings

New Beginnings...is a one of a kind necklace with a resin focal pendant. The resin piece is one of the new pieces I recently made. This unique necklace is created with hand wrought brass links with dangles of picassa glass beads with rich natural colors that reflect the changing colors of the leaves. A new beginnings of a sweet little brass wire bird nest with antique pearls dangle is added.
