A touch of Spring

I have had pansies on my mind for weeks now, finally I was able to find some to purchase. I just needed to see their smiling faces to know that spring is here, after all it is March and we are in Tennessee so it is safe to say spring has sprung! I know lots of you are still buried under snow and ice just know that I will be enjoying this nice sunny spring weather for you!

This past Friday I went to see my bead lady Mary at the Nashville Flea Market.
Did I need beads? NO

Did I want beads? YES

So beads are what I got!
sweet tiny amethyst roundels, peridot briolettes, moon stone, Tibetan beads and some fancy CZ drops and some more stuff I do not need
.
When I saw the peridot I already knew what I wanted to make.

From The Earth

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves. ~John Muir

I recently was asked to join the blogging program over at Auntie's Beads .I choose some African Turquoise beads and a strand of copper rondelles as well as a few other items. I incorporated these great items with some organic and hand made pieces. The very cool square clay fired beads are from my friend Lori of Cedar Swamp Pottery, lampwork bead from BeingBeads.etsy. Be sure to check out Auntie's Beads they have a great selection of beads, components and supplies.

You can find this piece in my Etsy shop.

I have received these beads free of charge from Auntie's Beads in order to write a review and/or create a project free of charge for you. I have not been paid for my endorsement as it pertains to the products received.

Verdigris

Verdigris is the common name for a green pigment obtained through the application of acetic acid to copper plates or the natural patina formed when copper, brass or bronze is weathered and exposed to air or seawater over a period of time
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I wanted to share with you a piece I made a while ago utilizing the teachings of Miss Shannon from Missficklemedia. This verdigris color is speaking to me today, I love combining my etching with this particular patina.
You can find this piece in my Etsy shop.
Key to wisdom
"The key to wisdom is knowing all the right questions"
John A. Simone Sr.
This vintage key was once a brooch with a blue plastic bead in the center, its former life was not so attractive. I replaced the bead with an antique Victorian button and added some of Miss Ficklemedia's Verdigris Patina to the brass key, it added some life to the former wall flower. An array of beads, precious stones and vintage chain  are used to make this eclectic adornment.
Feelin a little Vintage
After spending the last two days at the antique shop I am feeling a little "vintage". Here are two pieces I just finished creating. A vintage cameo brooch and antique jet glass beads make this very comfortable bracelet. The funky clasp was inspired by Christine Brandel on pg.87 of the the September issue of Bead Trends. Christine then gave credit to the very talented Cindy Wimmer for this great hook design. I loved this design and thought it would give a funky look to this piece.
A little piece of heaven...green that is.
Sometimes, well especially lately in this terrible heat....I like to wear a long lightweight necklace. My new favorite chain is the snake chain at 24" in length. So here I have something you just might see me wearing. You can find this green agate drop necklace in my Etsy shop.
Russian River
I had purchased these cool rock connectors at a bead show awhile back and have never used them. I have seen lots of other designers use them but I was unsure how they would look in my designs...I knew whatever piece I made had to be organic in nature to fit in with the rock ( I am funny about not wanting to mix certain things together). So here you have "Russian River" a combination of lampwork, bead caps- made from copper washers (soooo easy!) Agate, wood and Australian Chrysoprase.
You can find Russian River on my web site Judith B. Designs
Organic Obsession
I am a little obsessed with this bracelet...or should I say with the art bead. Kate of Studio Artbead makes the most incredible pieces from polymer clay. I was drawn to the texture and color of this great bead. I knew it had to be a stand alone kind of piece so I paired it with other organic beads, wood, bone and Tibetan beads all in the same hue, so the color could be appreciated. A few turquoise beads are added in the back.
Kate describes this bead...."Like a a field of wildflowers, this fresh unopened spray of dill flowers creates that look. Of perhaps Queen Anne's lace waving in the afternoon sunlight".
You can find Organic Obsession in my Flap Your Wings Etsy shop.
