ArtFire here I come!

Roughly 5 months ago I signed up and became a member of Artfire. At the time the promise of a lifetime fee of $7.00/month( this was a special promotion fee, no longer available) sounded very good with no other fees, so what the heck I will give it a go. Here we are at the end of August and I finally got around to listing a few items in my new Artfire shop. It is a work in progress as I learn my way around this community. What prompted me to get the lead out and work on it was the addition of the new Artfire Kiosk that goes on your Facebook page. I just love the fact that you can purchase directly from this Kiosk without leaving facebook and that you do not need to have an Artfire account to do so, that is one Fabulous application!!

Here is one of my new Artfire listings....

Shades of Blue

A very good friend of mine discovered my stash of Turquoise beads and had suggested I make some earrings from them. We picked out two that matched and then they sat on my work table for about 2 weeks, I kept picking them up and tried a few things but it was a not working for me. However today....still in my pj's I created these. I just love working with wire and especially brass so today it all came together. I can't wait to show my friend!

While I was on a roll.... ( I must be butter) ... I made two other pairs. These can be found in my Etsy shops.

Fairytale beauties...

I
came across these awesome images at The Vintage Moth and I just could not resist sharing them.Beautifully illustrated women who live in fairytale land. We can look and appreciate the beauty of these women that were created with great care and perfection but we know in real life they could not keep up with us if they tried. Although, I would wear flowers in my hair if I didn't get crazy lady looks...so instead I will admire these beauties.

Natural Elements

You know that I do not make "matchy" jewelery but I could not help myself today....I enjoyed making the necklace that I call "Dusk" so much that I wanted to make earrings and a bracelet to match. Here they are... what do you think? I really like the organic look this set has with the fire agate beads, baroque pearls and copper...all natural elements.

Dusk

Yesterdays finds at the flea market were slim pickins...I only picked up a few items but did get a nice stash of beads from Mary "my" bead lady. I fell in love with some fire agate beads in the most unusual colors, I was not sure they were indeed fire agate but when Mary held them up to the light I could see the "fire" within. Lately I am loving long necklaces, I really have never liked anything heavy on my neck and since my neck surgery I can not tolerate anything touching my scar.

This piece that I made has a thinner copper chain so all the focus should be on the design of the necklace. I call this "Dusk"... The colors of this necklace remind me of Dusk, when the colors of the day blend to evening,Look to the sky you will know what I mean.

I used chunky baroque pearls for a touch of romance wrapped in copper wire and then attached them to a copper washer that I textured and oxidized. A chunky copper bead is sandwiched between some fabulous fire agate beads. I loved making this and it would be great as a short necklace as well. Tell me what you wear most often...what is your favorite piece of jewelry?

The best 28 years!

T
oday my hubby and I celebrate our 28th wedding anniversary! Yes, I know you are thinking but she is so young....lol...we married at a wee age. I do not know where the time has gone....we laugh and have so much fun together , I am blessed to be married to such a wonderful man.

So today we are off to the city to the flea market, one of my favorite places to go and then to gather our college boy to go to dinner at Maggiano's, one of my DH's favorite things to do (eat)!
So I guess that is our secret, compromise.

The weather is perfect today so off we go, have a wonderful Saturday!

What's Your Type?

I have an addiction to old typewriters! I just love the look of them and the varying fonts that they have. I have 3 of these old Coronas Circa 1913....I just can't help myself, I see them I buy them. I have friends picking me up typewriters and have recently told them to stop. I have a garage filled with them. Most of them are to be taken apart for jewelry but the good ones I keep....until I need it or the love affair has ended with it. Anyway...what's your type what do you covet? What do you just have to have??

Spoonful of Sugar

A simple elegant one of a kind necklace. Ornate sterling miniature spoon in the Baroque style. This vintage spoon pin was once given away with a set of the matching sterling flatware. I have removed the pin back and added a jump ring so it can hang from a modern sterling round link chain. You can find this treasure in my Etsy shop.

Nashville Farmers' Market

Nashville has an awesome Farmers Market that is open year round. I was in the city today and decided to stop and see what I could pick up. Everything was so beautiful, colorful and fresh and these peaches smelled wonderful! I wanted to buy them but I knew it would end up in a cobbler that I did NOT need to eat so I got something else. I found some peaches & cream corn instead, tiny tiny red potatoes and some white eggplant. My garden is still producing so I passed on the plump tomatoes.
