Oh, Honey thank-you!

What more could a girl want? My darling was going to Lowe's and asked if I needed anything, I said no. This is what he came home with for me, a new torch.
I had recently purchased a similar torch and had used it for the first time last night, apparently I did something wrong as a part near the nozzle melted. He told me I could not use it anymore until I had a fire extinguisher ( the ever smart man!)

Look what else he bought at Lowe's.... I am one lucky girl! He is so practical and I suppose he does not want me to burn down the house. He said we are having a fire drill later.

New earrings on my website. I am still playing around with the copper tubing and these were so much fun to do. A little hammering for some texture, heat treatment for some cool colors and some nicely stacked turquoise disks. These swing, sway and swivel so nicely.

Full of Grace

When you sit down in your studio to work do you always have a plan in mind? When I settle down to do some work I usually have a thought about which beads or items I will work with but that is as far as any plan goes, the rest is what ever my hands do. Sometimes the said beads or items are just not cutting it and I start doing something else.
I had this pretty little bowl filled with these tiny wired semi precious stone chips and they were just screaming to be picked up, so last night they finally got their turn. Since the chips were so small I knew they had to be clustered and within minutes I had a chunky strand, but it needed something more and the layering began. I love a blend of old and new and this piece achieved it for me. I love the texture of this necklace and the substantial weight. You can find "Full of Grace" in my Etsy shop.

So tell me....how do you create? Do you start with a plan and stick to it or do you create freestyle?

I want to wish all my friends a Happy and Healthy New Year may all the blessings of the new year be yours!

Token Coin Bracelet

I just love using old objects and collectibles in my jewelry designs it makes them such a conversation piece. Here you have some vintage token coins used as connectors in this one of a kind bracelet. I love the agate beads in this and only wish I could find some more, I only had bought one strand from Mary my eccentric bead lady and now I am running out, oh well ...

I really should be starting my holiday decorating but I am saving it for the weekend when I can get in the mood. I feel like I am so behind in my decorating as all my neighborhood has decked out for a week or more. I do believe we are going to break down and buy an artificial tree. Back home in Massachusetts we could go anywhere within a few miles and cut down a fresh tree, here in Tennessee (at least where we live) it is not that easy. So, I am hoping to find a tree that I can put away without disassembling it each year. We have tons of great storage so it should work out ok, that would be one of the good benefits anyway. I can't wait to take out my ornaments, I love antique and vintage Christmas bulbs, they are my absolute favorites!!

Have you decorated your homes yet? What is your favorite item you take out every year?

Natural Elements

You know that I do not make "matchy" jewelery but I could not help myself today....I enjoyed making the necklace that I call "Dusk" so much that I wanted to make earrings and a bracelet to match. Here they are... what do you think? I really like the organic look this set has with the fire agate beads, baroque pearls and copper...all natural elements.

Dusk

Yesterdays finds at the flea market were slim pickins...I only picked up a few items but did get a nice stash of beads from Mary "my" bead lady. I fell in love with some fire agate beads in the most unusual colors, I was not sure they were indeed fire agate but when Mary held them up to the light I could see the "fire" within. Lately I am loving long necklaces, I really have never liked anything heavy on my neck and since my neck surgery I can not tolerate anything touching my scar.

This piece that I made has a thinner copper chain so all the focus should be on the design of the necklace. I call this "Dusk"... The colors of this necklace remind me of Dusk, when the colors of the day blend to evening,Look to the sky you will know what I mean.

I used chunky baroque pearls for a touch of romance wrapped in copper wire and then attached them to a copper washer that I textured and oxidized. A chunky copper bead is sandwiched between some fabulous fire agate beads. I loved making this and it would be great as a short necklace as well. Tell me what you wear most often...what is your favorite piece of jewelry?
