Sedona

This piece originally started out as a bracelet, instead a very earthy pendant was formed. I have been trying to create with other colors...that are not blues and turquoises. I always seem to gravitate towards those colors, but when you scroll down you will see I was not too successful.

Gorgeous fire agate, red river jasper, copper and some brass, originally I thought a copper ball chain would work well, but I felt it had to much copper going on, so I substituted a mellow antique brass chain. I am calling this piece Sedona. You can find this later today in my Etsy shop.

Sedona is on my bucket list of places I would like to visit...someday.

The lovely LeAnn of Summers Studio  created this great porcelain pendant that I used as a toggle for the focal for this bracelet. I paired it with sterling, smoky quartz and fancy jasper. The glaze on this toggle is wonderful, blues and greens, my favorite combination.

Flea Market Finds

Here it is Sunday already and I forgot to share my flea market finds with you. I went to the Nashville Flea Market on Friday and it was promised to be a little cooler but it did not turn out that way and it seems the heat and humidity still remains with us, how I long for cooler weather! Here are some of my finds...

Check out that cute little giraffe...not sure what I will do with it but it was irresistible! I love old bus and trolley tokens, they make great bracelets!

The printed mother of pearl beads were calling me, I just loved the mod look to them.

...and the finished product. I love the colors!

Hope everyone is having a great Sunday!
As always thanks so much for stopping by.

Trinket Necklace

I love to wear these long necklaces, they go with everything. Here is a new fav of mine...

You can find this in my etsy shop.

Cat in the Box

Since we got our new kitty 2 months ago, it has been a battle keeping the other two cats away from Morgan's very tasty high calorie kitten food. I finally had to put the bowl of food in a box with a hole that only Morgan can fit into. It has worked out fine, but Jack (the big grey tabby) has finally figured he can reach his paw in the hole and pull food close to the hole and has wiggled his big head into the hole to retrieve it. He just loves the kitten food, he will follow me around the house crying until I cave in and give him a little.

... here is the little guy coming out of his dinner box.

I just got these in the mail today from Spirited Earth and I am in love! Such beautiful creations...and the the glaze on the bee is amazing. Tomorrow I am off to the Nashville Flea Market to see Mary "my" bead lady, hoping I can find something to go with these two great pendants.

Melting Sherbet

I am so Lady Gaga over these beads from Ferrarioriginalbeads on etsy...they remind me of melting sherbet, I can almost taste them! Since they are soft in color I did not want to do anything cutesy or super feminine. I added some etched copper bead caps and some textured chain from AD adornments.

I just listed this in my Etsy shop.

A little confession

Some days you just feel like you are going to accomplish so much, you look at the clock and the big hand is running circles around the dial, it is moving way too fast, what happened to all the things that you were suppose to get done? That was one of these days.......
however I did manage to make these earrings. They are super lightweight, something I like, no one wants their earlobe hitting their shoulder.

You can find these here

...and these here

I have something I must confess...ok here it goes, I HATE to make ear wires, there I have said it and I feel much better. I am not sure why, they are not hard...its just one of those things I do not care to do. What little thing do you dislike doing? In your work or daily life... Spill it...I know there is something, make me feel better.

Feelin a little Vintage

After spending the last two days at the antique shop I am feeling a little "vintage". Here are two pieces I just finished creating. A vintage cameo brooch and antique jet glass beads make this very comfortable bracelet. The funky clasp was inspired by Christine Brandel on pg.87 of the the September issue of Bead Trends. Christine then gave credit to the very talented Cindy Wimmer for this great hook design. I loved this design and thought it would give a funky look to this piece.

Treasuries of precious objects

Treasury: A depository where wealth and precious objects can be kept safely.

I am honored to be featured in this lovely Bead Trends Treasury on Etsy.

Here are a few other treasuries I'd like to share with you. The teal colors in the next one are amazing!

To find out if your shop was featured in a treasury go to the Etsy home page and scan down the left side of the page to Treasury and click. Once you get to the Treasury page enter your shop name in the search area and hit enter. Once I did this for both my shops I found many I did not know I was in. Have fun!

Oh Beautiful Swan

Another hot hot day, but only 100 today. This weather is getting tiring, everything has dried up due to the lack of rain. We choose to stay inside and stay cool. Tonight a nice buttered bowl of popcorn and  season 1 disc 4 Dvd of Dexter. We are hooked on this sweetheart of a  serial killer, who would think that this would make for good entertainment.

“But calm, white calm, was born into a swan”

 Elizabeth Coatsworth
I just finished this etched piece. I am liking the connector on this, as it hangs nice and even. Sometimes you need an engineering degree just to figure out how to make things hang properly without twisting, turning and hanging uneven.

Mother Mary

Something a little light and delicate today. Vintage religious medal and bits of an old rosary.

You can find Mother Mary in my Etsy shop.

Here is new picture of my little Captain Morgan. He is just the sweetest baby ever!

Dinner is at 6

It is hotter than 40 hells outside and I have had my oven on since 10:30 this morning. The ac is on and the ceiling fans are keeping it a nice 74 degrees in here, better than the 100 degrees outside. Company is coming for dinner, so I thought I should give dinner a little bit more attention than my usual 30 minutes. Cooking is not my favorite thing to do, you have nothing to show for it when it is all done and cleaned up. I would much rather be in my studio and have toast and have some great pieces to look at at the end of the day. With that being said there are some dishes that I really enjoy making and one of them is homemade macaroni and cheese. I do not follow any particular recipe but do use a variety of cheeses for a deep flavor, it is always a big hit!

So anyway we are having a nice Southern meal tonight for our Yankee friends...Slow roasted pulled pork, homemade barbecue sauce, macaroni and cheese (my fav!), corn bread, fresh tomato, cucumber and feta salad and lets not forget some yummy lemon squares for dessert. Stop by if you can, I am sure to have extras!
