Flea Market Treasures

Trying to get back into my routine....it has been a very busy month for me. I had company, bronchitis and two awesome shows. Last weekend I had a two day show and sold 87 pieces of jewelry...crazy, crazy! I think it has taken me all week to re-coup after that show, plus I put in 2 days of work at the antique shop. So what do I do to relax?...what else but spend the day at the Flea Market.
My found treasures for the day...
round blister pearls, moonstone, copper clasps, old keys, Victorian locket and chain, brass rings, enamel watch face, clock key, enamel cuff links, old rosary beads and masonic medal,, Victorian buttons, vintage dog tags, old chains and  photo tin type.
I could not resist this 1930's G-Man toy badge...how cute is that?
I plan to spend the rest of the day in my studio and see what I can do with these treasures.

Congrats again to the Bead Trends Magazine winner QuiltingJewel39, please contact me with your mailing address.

Happy Sunday!

Pickin Nashville

The past 5 days have been super busy, my best friend Donna from high school came to visit, and this being her first visit to Nashville there was lots to cram into 5 days. To top it off I have been sick for the past week and  lugged tissues everywhere and was honking the whole time...all in all it was such a great visit!
We surprised Donna with a visit to  Antique Archaeology in Nashville. Donna is a big American Pickers fan. Mike Wolfe has recently made Nashville his part-time residence and has the coolest shop in the city. It was so cool to see all of the treasure hunting finds as they were all marked where they were picked and what episode they were on. It you are a fan of the show you would just love this place!
(I'm wearing my new Pickin Nashville shirt)

Last night we had a wonderful dinner at Maggiano's and our very handsome son Nick joined us...(just stating the obvious...
Now it's time to get back to work...very seriously too. I have a 2 day show this coming weekend and it will be a busy one. I hope everyone is doing well and I look forward to checking out some blogs and catching up.

Hatch Show Print

We are taking a little field trip today to Hatch Show Print on Broadway in Downtown Nashville Tennessee. It is one of the oldest american poster shops where they still make letterpress and block printed posters by hand.
I have been wanting to stop in and purchase a poster to have framed, so today's the day and you get to tag
along!
These posters have a turn of the century irresistible appeal.  Hatch posters were first used to promote vaudeville, circus, and minstrel shows across the country.

There's a reason why music lovers, Americana buffs, graphic arts collectors and designers, and commercial advertisers of all persuasions continue to turn to Hatch for inspiration.

This is the poster I purchased. It Captures the singing spirit of Music City USA, this three-color Hatch Show Print poster takes historic Hatch elements and updates them stylishly. The end result—a dynamic artistic approach to the essence of Nashville, Tennessee.

I am rolling once again!

I finally feel as though I am back into the groove of life, I am back to driving ( 5+ long weeks since surgery) and I am especially liking that since I have a new ride. We found what we had been looking for and finally broke down and made the purchase last week. A very sweet Volvo XC90 in navy blue.

So where did my new ride take me yesterday?...a bead show in Nashville. Here is my sweet little stash.

Do you think I am stuck on one color? I just can't help myself, my hand goes to them like a magnet. The dealer at the show told me the tube shaped beads were some type of Opal but I think she is wrong, I am thinking Amazonite, what do you think?
I go to this show especially for A.D adornments.I love stocking up on filigree and her chains ( all though a little pricey, but so gorgeous!)

 Stunning Labradorite and Chrysoprase

A perfect day

The weather was just perfect, not a cloud in the sky....finally after 4 years we went to the Zoo. I was saving this excursion for when we had company but something else always came up, you know how that is. Nashville has an amazing zoo, so well layed out, a great selection of animals and so very clean! It did feel a bit odd not to have a child in tow..I tried to get our 19 year old son to join us, but he had other plans. I guess I need to accept that he has grown up, ugh...that is a hard one.

My favorites are always the cats, no matter what species. I suppose it may have something to do with being a Leo.

The new Flamingo exhibit....such amazing creatures!

 very curious giraffes...

I hope you all are enjoying a wonderful weekend as well.

Busy Hands

My fall shows are creeping up and the calendar is getting full. I just signed up to do a show in East Nashville in a historic/trendy area (...does that make sense?) The show is called NashVegas, how cool is that. My hands have been busy and they look like I work on trucks, no pretty nail polish for me!
This piece is made with antique glass beads, copper and sterling. I love combining sterling with copper, they play off of each other so nicely.

The earrings were kind of a mistake, I had roughed up a stamped piece a bit that was intended for etching but decided I liked the stamping just as it was. Modern earrings with a vintage feel.

The Butterfly is a Flying Flower

I hope everyone had a great holiday weekend. My DH took me out for a lovely dinner on Saturday night, a nice splurge I should say. We went to the Capital Grille in downtown Nashville, located in the Hermitage Hotel. Four years ago when we moved to Tennessee our new home was not ready for us to  move in,  we were fortunate to stay at the luxurious Hermitage Hotel with our cats for just over a week, needless to say I did not want to leave. It surely was a real treat, this being a very stressful time, chocolates on the pillow at night sure helped. So four years later, here we are dinning at this lovely restuarant. Romantic yes...wonderful yes..it was a very nice evening. Thanks honey!

I had my son take this picture before we left as I was wearing a new butterfly necklace that I had just finished making. I loved it so much and it went with my blouse so I decided to wear it. I was very happy with the piece and it was really comfortable to wear.

You can find this piece in my Etsy shop.

We are Nashville!!

I just got in late last night from my wonderful trip out west...it was so much better than I could have imagined. I will post some pictures later and you will see what I mean. My DH had to go on business and I got to tag along. To top it off we got to visit with some of our good friends outside of San Fransisco.

I also had this nice surprise on being included in this great Etsy treasury called "We are Nashville!!" Fellow Etsian's reach out to assist with Nashville's flood relief. In here you will find my "Nashville Rising" hand stamped long necklace. All proceeds from the sale of my piece will be donated to Flood Relief - Metro Nashville Disaster Response Fund.

Nashville Rising

Nashville is rising... slowly. A small big city full of spirit and hope, although devastated by the flooding of almost 2 weeks ago it is slowly making its way back. I needed to create something, to do my part, be it ever so small. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of this necklace will be donated to The Nashville Disaster Response Fund.
