Owl in the Night

"The Bat that flits at close of Eve
Has left the Brain that won't believe.
The Owl that calls upon the night
speaks the unbeliever's fright."
William Blake

This owl button finds an unconventional life in this necklace. I purchased several domed buttons from a dealer in Texas and knew they would make great pendants. The dome gives off a spooky effect and pairs just perfectly with old black rosary beads.

You can find Owl in the Night in my Etsy shop.

One Design Four Ways

I loved making these yesterday...assemblage jewelry is probably my most favorite to make. Anything that involves found treasures just makes creating so much fun and challenging for me.

The four pieces are all the same design but with different elements. The common factor is rosary beads, filigree settings, antique buttons, etched discs, and a religious focal.

The unexpected touch is the etched disc behind the filigree flower. It adds a really cool element to the necklace without being too much.

You can find all of these pieces in my Etsy shop.

Brotherly Love

How about these two don't they just look so sweet? NOT!
more on them below.

This is a design style we have seen a lot of by various designers, it is a favorite of mine and thought I would join in and make a piece for my Etsy shop.  I just recently  purchased these gorgeous vintage teal rosary beads and the antique steel cut button and knew they would pair so nicely together.

I am still working on my pictures with the tips from yesterdays post, the bottom one could use a bit of work.

...so back to my boys..
When Morgan was just a baby they got along famously, Jack took on the role of his mother and bathed him and they played constantly. Now, Morgan still wants to play but Jack just opens up his mouth with a huge hiss and growls at him. We don't really understand the change in Jack, at first I thought he was sick or hurt, but he is fine. We did discover on Morgan that he had an extremely oil section on his tail, I thought he had gotten into something and washed it several times, but no change. So, we Googled  greasy tail on cats and low and behold he has what is called "Stud Tail". Now, I have had cats my whole life and never had a cat with this nor have I heard of it. Morgan has already been neutered so it is strange that he has this.  Apparently it is like a teenager with acne. So perhaps Jack can sense his adolescence and is not liking it! In the meantime the house sounds like the Serengeti with wild cats running and roaring. However when they are sleeping on my bed they are fine, Jack will take to cleaning Morgan again and all is well. Go figure!

Kitty Kat Friday

It will be a week on Saturday that this little guy joined our family. Captain Morgan is a hoot, plays hard then just falls asleep, I forgot how fun kitties are. Jack the gray tabby in the picture was not so sure about him there was lots of growling and hissing going on, but I think all of Morgans silly antics has finally turned Jack around. It sounds like two elephants running around the house, although there is still the occasional hiss and swat.

How could you not just love that little face!

A wonderful old button, pearls, beads and some copper and here you have Grecian Goddess.

You can find her in my Etsy shop.

Wishes to you all for a great weekend.

Giddy Up

Cowboy Sam and the Rodeo....c1951

I love vintage children's books and came across this book while I was in Nevada, I just had to have it... it was a child's book AND it was about horses! The graphics are just wonderful! I also have been tossing a pair of vintage horse buttons around my work table for a while now, not sure what to do with them, well finally their day has come, (at least for one button). This piece just makes me smile...although the horse on the button is jumping a gate and the book is about a rodeo, close enough for me.

So tell me in one word...what makes you smile? One Word Only!

Do you have a dark side?

I know this cold gloomy weather has possessed me to create this Victorian Gothic Rosary Necklace. The antique black rosary lends its somber and goth side to this piece, although it is still rather delicate and pretty at the same time.

Do you have a dark side? What just makes you turn into something you'd rather not be?
