The day after...

I had a fantastic show yesterday....the best yet, I still can't believe it! The show had great traffic all day with customers that were buying. I could not believe how busy I was! I do believe offering to accept credit cards is a huge plus, and I have been extremely pleased with Propay, the service I have been using, half of my sales were credit card sales and it makes me wonder how many sales I would have lost if I did not offer this service.

These photos are not the best, as I used my I-phone to take them. My booth is always a work in progress, tweaking the best way to display my wares and draw people to the booth. My use of antiques is a big help , people are drawn to the antique typewriter and pictures and such. Half of the battle is to get people to come into your booth. As I looked around the show and saw many booths that did not have traffic, I believe it is the lack of a good display. You can have the best things but if if they are not displayed well no one will notice. A back drape would be a good addition to my display, but I need to figure that one out. Like I said, it is a work in progress and evolves until it feels right.

There was one booth that was very simple but eye catching, called "Squirrel In The Attic". The name itself was a stopper! Jennifer a young military wife is the creative graphic designer behind this greeting card business. Her cards make you smile, laugh and say awwww! I kept going back and buying more. After talking to her I learned that she has an Etsy shop, so I told her I would post her to my blog. I sure hope you will go and check out her shop and her wonderful fun cards.

  1. Judy, I think your display is wonderful! I know just what you mean about display being a work in progress. And I completely agree that you need something eye catching to draw people in. Your designs work well with the antique/vintage props. Good to hear about propay. I'm looking at what to do myself. Our host last weekend kindly processed credit cards for us. In fact, I know that my largest sale was completely dependent on being able to process credit cards. Oh and congrats too on good sales! That must feel quite good especially after all the hard work that goes into designing, making, and setting up.

  4. Thanks for showing your display again Judy..it's awewsome! I'm so glad you did so well, it is really a confidence boost, isn't it?!! Looks like you have to bring a lot of props to the show, something I don't like to do, but I think I need to reconsider seeing how well it works out for you!

  5. Congrats on a successful show!! Positive feedback makes you forget how much work it all really is! Your props are gorgeous, of course, and I am sure they attract lots of people. Keep up the good work - your designs are so lovely!

  7. I can see why you had so many visitors to your booth. Your display is beautiful! I love the vintage props and the unclutterd setup.

I've been hesitant to get a credit card setup since I don't really do that many shows, and even the shows I do are not attended by huges masses of people. I know I've missed a handful of sales because of this, but right now money is too tight. Maybe next year.....

  8. wow - you are a bit intimidating! i would be worried if i were at a show with you... your set up is awesome and, of course, so is your work! i have been thinking about the credit card thing... and i believe that people do not consider what they are spending as much when they can use one... thanks for giving the reference... have been wanting to look into it...

  9. I'm so happy to hear it went well. Your table is so eye catching. It's no wonder you kept getting sales with a table like that and jewelry that's even more impressive.

  10. I'm so happy to hear it was a good show! I've got one coming up on Friday, but I'm kind of worried about turn out because it's Black Friday and most people are at Best Buy on Black Friday. :) Oh well! It'll still be fun and I get to hang out with my husband all day long. And I'm hoping that taking credit cards (through Propay as well) will help out.

I got the package and it was a VERY pretty empty box. :) You have great packaging ribbon. Where did you get it? I'll look for the real package in the mail!
