Making Room for a Bead Giveaway

Since yesterday I have been putting away all of my little found treasures from Texas, trying to organize it into a space that is already lacking good storage. So to make room I have cleaned out some of my containers and have made roughly a 3 pound pile of beads to give away.
No junk in this pile! There are some vintage beads, pendants, gemstone and glass beads lots of beady goodness for you!
Just leave me a comment telling me what is the best treasure you purchased at a garage sale, flea market or antique shop. I love to know what folks are buying! If you want to share this giveaway go ahead and let me know you did and your name goes in the proverbial hat twice. Giveaway will end on Friday Oct. 7th with one lucky winner.

Here are more of my new treasures, wonderful vintage religious medals in all sizes.
 tons of great rosaries

old hardware, buttons, keys, game pieces...
clock faces, tags, monopoly game pieces, cuff links...
These trinkets are my passion, what's yours?

  1. Ohhhhh, look at all those goodies you brought home. If you still need more room feel free to send them my way. I've got lots of 'storage' for things like this.

We don't have many antique or junk shops around here, but the best thing I've found is a vintage suitcase that I'll use for both a display piece and storage.

  3. Wow! You did find some real treasures - lots of great pieces to work with. Probably the best finds were at a flea market - 2 grab bags of vintage and old jewelry, and vintage rhinestone buttons to repurpose.
Thanks for having the generous giveaway - Please throw my name in the hat.
I am going to try and get a post up about your giveaway later - will let you know. Lots of interruptions today.

  6. Wowza's at all those beads! The best thing I ever bought at an antique store was a VERY old photo of my great aunt and uncle. I was searching through tins of buttons when I stood up and turned around and there was the photo staring back at me. I found one of the people working there and told them that I HAD to have it as it was my family. When I went back a few weeks later everyone knew about my story and wanted to talk to me about the photo. My great aunt is still alive, 95, unfortunately she is suffering from dementia and can't appreciate the story.

  7. Wowza, look at all those beads!

The best thing I ever found at an antique store was a VERY old photo of my great aunt and uncle. I was searching through tins of buttons when I stood up and there it was staring back at me. I paid a whole $3 for it and everyone in the shop wanted to talk to me about it. My great aunt is still alive, unfortunately she is 95 and suffering from some dementia and cant appreciate the story. Still, it was so neat to find my family in an antique store.

  8. Wow! You sure picked up some beautiful treasures! I definitely want in on this drawing (I'll have my fingers crossed until Friday!), so...my favorite treasure would have to be the corner cabinet in my kitchen. It was beat up, with peeling white paint and rusty hinges - in other words, completely perfect! :)

  9. Oh my goodness...look at all that good stuff you bought...love those religious medals.

I just went through the same process of cleaning out my beads...it is amazing how much stuff you can accumulate.

Please don't enter me in your giveaway...as generous as it is...I am still cleaning out my own beads. I am afraid if I bring anymore home, my home will start to tilt to one side. :-)

  10. My treasure hunts never seem to turn up the riches that yours have, but I did once find a 20" necklace completely made of various sizes of gorgeous vintage cut Austrian crystals -- still haven't found any others that had the same type of faceting on them, so now I'm hording what I have left!

  13. What a treat!

I think the best thing I picked up at a flea market was lots of things. Specifically, many years ago I drove by a flea market on quite a few weekends in upstate NY. There was an older woman there who had been collecting antique crystal necklaces for years and years. I bought all from her that I could afford which wasn't nearly enough.

  15. I would love to be entered in this giveaway. The best thing I every found at a yard sale was an old 1960's fender amp for $10. My husband and son both play bass and I wanted it for the "fender" logo. I wanted to use the logo in a mixed media painting for my husband. When I got it home, he flipped out. He wanted to use it! I later found out it was worth almost $5000!!! (he would not let me cut it up for the sake of art!)

  18. I picked up this sweet colonial inspired glass front jewelry box at an antique store in Galena IL a few weeks ago. I didn't pay rock bottom prices for it, but from the striking bordeaux color and shabby chic wear and tear, to the angled glass front and the drawers that slide out to reveal hidden compartment and the sweet acorns and oak leaf designs painted on, this is a sure winner in my book!
What a lot of loot! Love it ALL!
    Enjoy the day!

  19. Judy really want to run my fingers through all of your new goodies. You are such a generous soul to give away the wonderful beads you are clearing out. My best find was an oval mirror from a dresser that I found in a 'junk' shop in Hurtsbridge Australia. Stripped of it's yellow paint, it is a lovely golden oak. This $2 find has been in the hall of every home of ours for the past 15 years.

  20. Thanks for the chance.

I have two favorites: a hand held mixer for $1.00, brand new, name brand. And then in Granville Ohio, found this amazing vintage store and picked up so wonderful buttons.

  22. My favorite find was a MASSIVE jar of buttons an elderly lady was selling for two bucks at a garage sale. Inside the jar was buttons as well as all kinds of other neat odd-n-ends. It's my favorite not only because of the steal of the price but also because it was one of my first 'found object' purchases.

I adore all your finds from Texas. Very, very cool!!

  26. Wow! What a stash!

I have an addiction to flea markets, garage sales etc so it's really hard to pick my favorite but I have to say the one item that gets the most love is huge Spiderman action figure that I got for a $1. In a house with 3 boys it gets quite the workout!
